Making Art

After a recent video animation contest, the jury discovered that the winner was generated by artificial intelligence and changed their minds.

Suddenly it was no longer the best. How is this possible?

The point here is not the artificial intelligence that creates great animations, it is the value and meaning we attach to things.

It's something embedded in our human nature and leads us to appreciate the value each of us finds within any creative artwork, the author's story, and his consciousness.

Meaning and value are not in the thing itself, they are in us.

We do not value the thing itself as it is spit out to us by artificial intelligence.

We value the meaning and significance that the narrative embedded in the work arouses in us.

In a world where AI is increasingly creating more and more output at higher quality, the leading entrepreneurs are those who create art instead of making output or find unique ways to combine the two.

It reminds Seth Godin's simple recipe for success: step one, find your art, and step two do more of it.
